The DfE has announced the new NPQ for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinators (SENCOs), where you can gain essential knowledge and skills to perform a SENCO role effectively and set the strategic direction of SEND policy in a school.

This is a leadership level qualification, primarily for SENCOs, school leaders or aspiring SENCOs. More details can be found in the DfE framework.

Modules are expected to include:

  • School culture
  • Statutory framework
  • Identification of need
  • Teaching 
  • Behaviour
  • Leading and managing provision
  • Professional development
  • Implementation

Courses are expected to begin in October 2024, but please complete an Expression of Interest form in order to receive updates.
