How to Apply

We’re pleased that you have decided to explore a career in teaching. We know how rewarding and enjoyable it is to make a difference to young people’s lives across Cambridgeshire – but we know that we’re biased!
Once you have decided you want to apply for an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course and have looked at our different training partners, you will need to complete an application on the Department for Education’s website.

APPLY HERE - (DFE SITE)

You can apply for an ITT course from October each year, to start in the following September. Once you have found the course and provider you want to apply to it is recommended that you apply as soon as possible. There are limited spaces available and course providers may allocate places as people apply.

Within your application you will need to:

  1. Consider applying for up to a maximum of 4 courses at a time
  2. Provide details of your qualifications (Degree, A Levels and GCSEs)
  3. Provide details of your work experience
  4. Provide a personal statement
  5. Detail any adjustments that may need to be made to support you (e.g. to support a disability, mental health condition, or educational needs)
  6. Provide at least two references – they won’t be contacted until you accept a place on a course

What happens after you apply?

After applying, your training provider will review your application within 30 working days and decide whether to offer you a place on their course.
If your application is successful, then you will be invited to an interview. Interviews can vary between different providers so they will contact you to explain the process.
If you are unsuccessful, you will be given feedback about why. Sometimes this may mean that you need an additional qualification, work on your application or interview technique. You can apply for more courses if you are unsuccessful, providing you meet the minimum requirements.
