FAQs

Q: How do I register my ECTs and Mentors for the CPTSHN Early Career Training Programme (ECTP) and induction?

A: Follow the 3 steps needed to complete registration;

  1. For Induction - Sign-up with the Appropriate Body (AB)– Check that the post is suitable for an ECT by registering with the AB Service.
  2. For ECF and Induction - The Department of Education (DfE) digital Service called ‘Manage training for early career teachers (education.gov.uk)'. Registering with the DfE enables your ECTs /Mentor to be verified as eligible for funding. You will need to specify Teach First as your Training Provider and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Teaching School Hub as Delivery Partner. Once verified by the DfE, details of your ECTs and Mentors will pass to Teach First who will provide access to the training materials.

Q: When can I start to register my ECTs and Mentors?

A: Schools will be contacted by the DfE, via email regarding the date of registration. Induction Tutors will be invited to register participants on their Digital Service. Instructions will be given to support this process once you click on the ‘magic link’.

Q: Do I need to register separately with an Appropriate Body Service.

A: Yes, both steps above must be in place. As part of the DfE registration process you will be asked to specify which appropriate Body you are using for statutory induction, selecting C&P TS Hub from the drop-down menu. PLEASE NOTE: this does NOT constitute registration with an AB Service. You will need to register with an AB Separately. To register with C&P TS Hub AB Service please click HERE!

Q: How do I choose my Lead Provider and Delivery Partner

A: As part of the DfE registration process you will be invited to choose your Lead Provider and Delivery Partner within their digital service. To ensure we are able to support you with your ECTP programme please select ‘Teach First’ as Lead Provider and ‘C&P Teaching School Hub’ as Delivery Partner, using the drop-down menus.

Q: Once I have added my ECTs and Mentors to the DfE digital Service, what else do I need to do?

A: It is vital that you link your ECTs to their Mentors when registering them on the DfE digital platform. Mentors who are not linked to an ECT will not be given access to the training materials when their details are passed through to Teach First. Please ensure that links are amended if there are any changes to mentors as we pass through the 2-year programme.

Keep the DfE digital service updated with any amendments to contact details paying particular attention to spellings within email addresses to ensure we are able to maintain contact with all participants.

Teach First Access FAQ

We know recently that there have been queries relating to the access of Brightspace via Teach First, our ECTP/ECF Provider and the accessing of their portals and materials for ECTs, Mentors and Induction Tutors/Leads. We have popped together the FAQs below to hopefully help with some of those which you may have come across. If you have any other queries or concerns relating to accessing the portals or the transfer itself, please reach out to Emma Farrell - ECF@cptshn.co.uk.

How long can we expect it to take to gain access to Bright Space once the school is set up on the DfE portal?

Expect the DfE to take up to 10 working days from the day the school are registered to report the partnership to Teach First. It can then take a further 5 working days for Teach First to set up Bright Space access.

We need to get in contact with Teach First for support with the system/portal?

The best way to do this is by using the Teach First Contact Us online form, which can be found on the landing page of my Teach First Contact Us | My Teach First.

Will our ECTs/Mentors induction/training be affected by not having Bright Space access?

Please be rest assured your ECTs/Mentors will be able to meet their engagement requirements by attending the conferences and seminars on offer and attending mentor sessions.

Will our ECTs induction be affected by not having access to the ECF training/materials?

As long as regular mentor meetings are going ahead and an ECT is being shown how to make progress with their teaching against the Teachers’ Standards then this will ensure their entitlements are in place, and as long as ECT induction has been recorded and authorised with the appropriate body, then not having access will not delay ECT induction as this will still be being recorded.

My Lead Provider/Delivery Partner/Both details do not look correct on the DfE?

If you are going down the DfE funded route, in most cases your Delivery Partner should be down as Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Teaching School Hub and Lead Provider as Teach First, if this looks incorrect or you are unable to change these, please contact the DfE in the first instance continuingprofessional-development@digital.education.gov.uk.

I believe I may have missed out a step in registering?

Our Year One/Year Two ECT/s have not received an invitation to the Teach First Conferences?

If your ECTs have not received any details regarding conferences, then please email either our dedicated ECF inbox EFC@cptshn.co.uk

Our Mentor/Mentors have not received invites to their mentor sessions?

If your mentor/s have not received any details regarding their mentor sessions, then please email either our dedicated ECF inbox EFC@cptshn.co.uk

It has been over 10 working days, and nothing has been received from the DfE/Teach First regarding access?

If all details are correct on the portal and you know of no reason why access has not been given and you have been in contact with both the DfE and Teach First then please do reach out to a member of the team here at the Hub and we will do our best to get this investigated for you.
